adam f
After a real hankering for a 20g O/U after borrowing a mates 686 Special a few times, Ive had a real tough tasking trying to find one I like. The 686 Special Beretta in 20g with long barrels is like trying to find rocking horse poo - and whilst I could literely take my pick of new 686/687 Beretta's the new ones didnt inspire at all - poor finish IMO and typical of high volume production. The older guns are also hard to find. Anyway - Ive always had a place for Rizzini and the higher end guns seem to be getting alot of press coverage in the mags recently so I stumbled across the Artemis by B Rizzini. After a heap of searching the web I found a few guns and ended up buying this little beauty from Ian Coley Sporting today. I'm very impressed. A proper small frame 20g action, a reasonable piece of timber and very well finished off both the scroll work and the timber to metal finish. Cant wait to have a walk around with it later this week! arjimlad
Very nice, wishing you many happy shoots together !
Peathag
Good choice - a really nice gun and an absolute pleasure to shoot. I had a Macnab Highlander 20g 29" barrels colour case hardened action which is basically the identical gun to yours but in a fit of stupidity and desperation I traded it for a clay gun. When funds allow I will be looking to purchase one again and will get one of the B.Rizzini range again. My favourite cartridge for this gun was Gamebore Diamond Gold 30g 6's which gave me the pleasure of carrying around a 20g with a bit extra range and performance - no recoil issues either. Happy days and have good season with this gun.
adam f
Peathag, I very nearly bought a higlander but the one I found had a deposit on it. I really liked the solid rib the Macnab had and the case hardened action - but either way they are a stunning gun and very good value. Adam I know where there are a pair of Highlanders for sale in a gunshop but they are the high spec wood models and are £3450 each but personally I think that they are overpriced as they are almost identical to my old gun (which had a lovely piece of timber) - probably the reason why they have been sat on shelf for 5 years aye. Colc08
Out of interest how much did you pay for this? If you dont mind me asking. You can PM if you like. The only reason I ask is because I have one of these cracking little guns and I previously had no idea what model its was and how much it would be worth. All I know is it was a Rizzini. I purchased it from a hard up gamekeeper about 10/ 12 years ago now. I will be perfectly honest with you though as nice a gun as it is I'm none to cleaver with it Cheers Colin
adam f
Hi Colin, I paid £1500 for this. I'm on the look out for a matching 12g but they seem even rarer!
Colc08
Thanks for your reply Adam. This might sound like the stupidest question but I haven't used it much and am a little unsure..... The safety has a barrel selector option so you can flick between barrels. Flick it to the left and I think its bottom barrel and right for the top barrel. Am I right in saying my bottom barrel will be the one with the tighter choke? Cheers
adam f
The other way round. Single red dot = bottom barrel and the 1/4 choke, double red dot = top barrel and tighter 1/2 choke. Adam
Colc08
Cheers Adam, I'll have a look. Where will the red dot(s) be? Thanks Colin
