Christmas Dab off

Does anybody fancy a beach session between Xmas and New year up at Dungie?

Its normally paved with Dabs and you don't have to be a pro to take a decent bag home. No need for flash kit or specialist tackle, if the weathers right you can get away with a Carp rod. I can help with end tackle if you need a few pointers. All welcome regardless of ability or experience as long as you don't get more than me.

I'm going to be up there anyway, if anybody fancies a festive dangle pipe up.

Deserted beach? Dabbing? Tackle? What are you dangling your festive pipe up? **** rod...?

Is this the same hobby where you can 'pump' for worms? Will there be any COCKles about?

All sounds a bit dodgy to me ack-ack! I think you've posted on the wrong internet forum...

:)

Allow me to clarify.

There's nothing I like more than airing my tackle in public during the festivities. I head out early in the morning with my rod in one hand and my battered old bag in the other and try and find a spot to dangle my tackle in the sea. The waters usually a bit cold but you soon get used to it. I've been known to sit on the beach thrashing my rod around for hours and not manage to pull anything out at all. In my youth I could sit there bashing them out all day but I struggle achieve the satisfaction of just knocking one out now. My poor old rod has lost a lot of its action over the years, the new generation are much stiffer and can throw their gear a lot further. I'm happy just to get my tackle out though these days, in its day it was the talk of the village but its not very impressive now, its chipped and battered from years of abuse and it smells a bit from when its been put away after a session without a proper clean. The mrs says it stinks of squid and won't go near it unless its had a good scrub! I generally give my tackle a dunk in the sink after every use to stop the salt building up. My rod gets an annual birthday when I wash it down with hot soapy water and then give it a really hard polish and a squirt of WD40. Well worth paying special attention to the eye at the end as this bears the brunt as you are go back and forth.

Hope this clears up any misunderstanding.

Sorry fella, full name is Dungeness. You can normally find somewhere sheltered to fish even when its blowing a hooly like it is now. Its a massive shingle cuspate foreland with a Nuke power station on the end. Its a bit over hyped for fishing but when conditions are right you'll not beat it. It was a Cod mecca back in the days of black and white photos.
