Shotgun Issue

Hey folks I have just took one of those EasyHit fibre optic sights off of my Beretta 682 Super Sport as the previous owner put it on and I am not too keen on it and have got a Beretta 2.6mm bead to fit on instead.

The problem came as I took the fibre optic sight off with a hair dryer and slid a lenght of fishing line between it and the barrels to remove it. I got it off and there is a rectangular divet where the bead thread should be, but it's full of what looks like some sort of red resin or plastic ect.

I gave the resin stuff a good blasting with a hair dryer to see if it would soften, and had a go at picking and chiping it out with my swiss army knife but it's set as hard as a rock  . So I was just hoping someone has a solution or knows of a chemical that will break the stuff down without damaging the bluing on my gun.

I hope this doesn't seem like a daft question, but it's just because I have never added or removed a bead from either of my guns and this Beretta came fixed with one of those fibre optic sights from the prev owner.

Cheers for any replies in advance, any help is much appreciated :)

The front sight on a Supersport is shaped like a D with a small tail on it, this slots into the rib and can be removed by placing a narrow screwdriver blade at the front of whats left of the sight, and levering it up.

Chambers Gun supplies sell a replacement. http://www.gunspares.co.uk/shopdisplayproducts.asp?page=2&id=24072 FS016.

Perazzi beads are similar, but not the same.
