just for the record not sure if you know, but Steve Pope IS venom tuneing/custom shop, or at least he was until venom ceased to be.

as for fitting his kit to a TX i really dont think it would need either the AA kit or Steves unless the power has dropped down, a decent gun smith (or even yourself at home) would be able to smooth out the tx if its given too much trouble.

whats the reason behind you wanting to get the kit in the rifle? are there problems with the rife or you just want to make it better?

Bought the rifle second hand from Avalon Guns in Steet, Somerset

just before xmas last yr no history paid £150

Air Arms tell me the rile was made in July 2001 from the serial number.

Its been shooting fine no problems untill last week 3hr target practise about 250 -300 pellets.

Started to hear a grating noise on cocking this turned out to be the cocking arm returning

up noise coming from cocking shoe

on looking this was dry so put some ABBEY LT2 GUN GREASE IN THE SLOT noise gone

but this gease is appearing where u put pellets in breech not alot

have i done the right thing?

So i thought if i had to dissamble i just as well put in new seals and spring?

but i have no power loss gun is fine.

The text below comes from the BAR Blackpool air rifles web site they being

the offical northern agents for Steve Pope

V-Mach Rifle Tuning Kits

We are delighted to welcome back one of the most popular after market improvement products produced for air rifles.

Late 2005 saw the sad demise of Webley and along with it their reputable custom house, Venom. The good news is that Steve Pope is now back in business producing the tuning kits that his name is synonymous with - and we are the official northern agents for them!

Smoother, quicker, sweeter, more accurate, more refined, better mannered....

Just a few of the descriptions customers give us of their rifles after fitting a V-Mach tuning kit. A V-Mach tuning kit is probably the best sixty five quid you can spend on a spring rifle to improve its performance.

The kit comprises a F1 Powr-Lok spring with a PTFE top hat piston guard and polished spring guide, Powr-Pulse piston seal, pre-compression washers for power adjustment if required, Moly gun grease and Moly gun oil.

The kit is supplied with fitting instructions, and is a viable DIY project for those with a technical mind and some experience of servicing guns. Otherwise, V-Mach recommend employing a gunsmith to fit the kit.

SPECIAL NOTICE FOR HW97K & HW77 KITS Weihrauch changed to a bigger piston seal in rifles with serial no.1446049 and over. Please check the serial number of your rifle and choose from the list below so that we can supply the correct kit.

AVAILABILITY We are aiming to keep regular stock of all the most popular kits. V-Mach are currently upgrading the Air Arms tuning kits to include the Powr-Pulse Piston Seal and we are expecting these in stock in the next 2 weeks. Some kits will be made to order and therefore have a 2 week delivery on them.

this is just my opinion of venom tuned TX rifles, it doesnt make a huge difference to them.

I spend 70 with my local gun smith and he does a damn good job at tuneing the AA rifles. But i nly had this done when the power dropped down to 8.5Flbs :good:

the tx range of rifles dotn really need to be touched due to the high quality used in produceing them, they already have synthetic bearings and metal spring guide, so the majority of the v mach kit is just really spares. You might use the seals and the spring might be slightly better, but the majority of work in tuning the TX is the ability to ensure all surfaces that should be clean and grease free ARE clean and grease free, and the surfaces that should have greace and oil have sufficiant to do thier job, but not to much to gunk everything else up.

Roblade, sorry but i have to disagree, Venom tuned rifle's are one of the best tuned you can get.

I had my HW80 tuned by them in 1988, and it was the best thing i ever done.

Later on when i bought a txhc, and my mate had a tx, we both had them tuned, and a lot of people at our local gun club had tx's tuned by other people, but they were no where near as smooth as ours.

I have used the Mach 1 and Mach 2 and these riles are breathtaking :good:

Steveo, if you are getting your tx tuned give steve a call, you will not regret it

A quicker lock time and a shorter stroke can be done, as well as a lovely set back trigger :)

agreed he can work absolute miracles with the HW and any other rifle, but since a lo tof the hard work is already done with the TX all its down to is how much time your prepared to put into the preparation on the parts (ie lots of polishing).

If you want a shorter lock time on a tx easiest way to do it si to get a MK1 LOL

when i get another tx i challenge anyone to the pepsi challenge at the club on who has the local gun smith tuned TX and the venom tuned tx, maybe we could get a guest judge down?:good: (but must stress that not all gunsmiths work is equal!!!!).

you will notice a difference but i would seriusly consider having ths work done only when the rifle develops a seriouse fault or is low in power. As in my opinion it is hard to imporve the TX beyond the factory finish.

By the way steve, how old is your rifle and how many pellets has it done?
