harrycatcat1
i didn't realise until the other day that you now need an operators licence for 3.5 tonnes van. How are all these scrap collectors that roam up and down our streets going to go on, will they apply for one http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/detail?itemId=1082072947&type=RESOURCES How will it affect you ? Another european load of bureaucracy.

jpbeaver
Am I missing something? Second paragraph says "Most users of goods vehicles that weigh OVER 3.5 tonnes, ie the maximum permitted total weight when loaded, require an operator's licence - but there are a number of exemptions." harrycatcat1
probably in the same way they do with planning permission and other laws. As far as I am aware you dont have to provide the information below to apply for planning permission Financial information you'll need to provide You will need to provide additional information about your company's financial circumstances when you apply for a goods vehicle operator's licence. You will also need to satisfy the Traffic Commissioner that you have adequate financial resources to start up and run the road haulage business properly. There must be enough working capital - eg cash, loan facilities, or other assets that can be turned quickly into cash - to cover all expenses that are likely to arise before any money is earned to meet them. Physical assets, such as buildings, vehicles or livestock, are not acceptable as evidence of financial standing. and this is only part of it :o
