Hi all,i am looking at buying a disc 300tdi that has 16" 7j rims on, which are the same size as my frontera, been to local tyre depot and asked for cost to swap my frontera 255s with disco 205s and he said they wouldnt do it as 7j rim is to big for 205 and not big enough for 255.

Have also come up with a search that suggests 255 will go on disco but some fender reshaping will be required.

Has anyone got one with these sizes and did you have problems

255 should go on with no mods to the front only the stops need ajusting to stop your tyres rubing on the radius arms,(only a spanner needed)dead easy, the rear may need what they call the camel cut which is triming of the rear arch although if your not off roading it you may get away without doing one,do you know anyone with the same size that you could try first, hope this helps

Hi,

for 255 tyres on Disco.1 you would need 8j rims (as fitted to Range/Rvr P38 and later disco)

but you would need wheel adapter spacers in order to fit later rim combos. (not cheap if bought new).

There is a site that ideas mod`s needed or not for tyre sizes .

Brief outline as follows :
