Remington 97* primers

Recommended Posts

Just after the IMI (Eley) explosion in the early 1970s, when ALL production ceased, we (now 'oldie') homeloaders found components hard to source. C.I.L. 4BP battery-cup primers (used in Canuck shells) were hurriedly imported from Canada and were retailed in rough circular tins containing 40 - 44 primers. Later on, the Remington 97* primer became popular only to be restricted to holders of 'fit-person' certificates! Rumour had it that these primers were so sensitive and powerful, they were used by the I.R.A. in letter-bombs.

I found them ideal in a C.F. case with 19 grains of Bofors JK6.

Anyone out there remember them?
