Floating Chamber
Just after the IMI (Eley) explosion in the early 1970s, when ALL production ceased, we (now 'oldie') homeloaders found components hard to source. C.I.L. 4BP battery-cup primers (used in Canuck shells) were hurriedly imported from Canada and were retailed in rough circular tins containing 40 - 44 primers. Later on, the Remington 97* primer became popular only to be restricted to holders of 'fit-person' certificates! Rumour had it that these primers were so sensitive and powerful, they were used by the I.R.A. in letter-bombs. I found them ideal in a C.F. case with 19 grains of Bofors JK6. Anyone out there remember them?
coyotemaster
I think I had a box or two laying around at one time, leftover from a kit purchased from a retiring shooter. Seems they were the only primer to fit in some of the older Remington Power Piston cases ( circa early 60s?).
Floating Chamber
I remember the very old Remington cases having a 57 primer; much smaller than a 209. I found this image: http://picturearchive.gunauction.com/3742193419/9888435/mvc-005f.jpg_thumbnail1.jpg Edited December 30, 2011 by Floating Chamber
