Guest cookoff013
Hi,I was wondering what they mean when they say,New Hevi shot.what is the difference, and can you use it in older guns? does it choke like lead, or more open chokes like steel! Anybody put my mind at rest.I dont want to blow my old gun up Cheers Wayne hevishot is a brand name and a product, it is a metaluric alloy of tungsten / nickel and i think iron. it is melted together and shot is made. it is unbelievably hard, way harder than steel i would not use this in older guns, specialised powders and wads are used to reduce wear on normal barrels. i`m not a big fan of the stuff unless a brilliant wad is used. there are new shot coming out on the market all the time, now sinter type blends are common. the likes of niceshot impact / tungsten matrix/ iron tungsten matrix. these are made by putting a tungsten powder mixed with tin and iron, in a polymer making a good shot. nice shot is a soft shot for older guns. there is lots of info. check out niceshot, impact tungsten matrix, ecotungsten, tundra.. to name but a few

Alycidon
I have used Hevishot as my wildfowl heavy cart of choice in a 687 Beretta game gun, 36gr of 4s works well on duck and inland flighted geese as long as the range is not pushed to far.
