Cranfield
Owl decoys do work, but must be placed in a prominant position and the shooter must still be well hidden. I have also used teddy bears with large glass eyes as "decoys" also.

SNAKEBITE
Chances are you do have owls around, you just don't see them. An Owl decoy or raptor decoy works well but is better for shotguns in my opinion. The corvids mob the decoy but do not settle and provide a steady target. A rabbit laid out with the guts cut open works well for corvids. Failing that a quantity of butchers off cuts is good. Once you have got one corvid the surrounding ones go ape and mob the scene. It can take a while to settle and they soon cotton on to the fact that there is danger and don't come back! If you really do want to use an owl decoy put it in a prominent position near a tree. The corvids then sit in the tree and show their anger. This is the steadiest they will be. Oh and for clafification ROOKS live in social flocks and CROWS live in pairs or are solitary. The hooded bird you have seen maybe a JACKDAW.

Bipolar
cheers fella's thats all i wanted to know , if they work or not , once again thanks danny Try a little Owl decoy not the Large American Eagle Owl (when is the last time you saw one of them on your shoot!) Rip open a squirrel or young rabbit and get well hidden, (look like a tree!!) and bobs your uncle, but you have to be quick they aint fooled for long, If you shoot one don`t get up and pick it up, wait (unless its on its back, legs akimbo!) remember corvids hunt in multiples
