Winches

Hi Everyone

 

I have recently picked up some work clearing some trees for a local wildlife trust. We have a slight problem though due to the wildlife we cant take machinery over a ditch so need to winch the trees out. Were gonna fit a winch to the front of the LR Discovery to get them out. The trees arent huge probs bout 12" - 18" in diameter so reckon a 3tonne winch or similar would do the job easily.

 

So has anyone got anything suitable laying about they no longer want, ideally i want something that pulls in quickly but will consider anything for the right money.

 

I will put in wanted section as well but thought on here would get more people looking.

cut the trees into more managable sizes,

you will be looking at £500 upwards for a winch and bumper,

and if doing it commercially you have to consider H&S too.

It depends how long the trees are cut to, but they are heavy and it will not be quick job with a winch on a LR. You'll also need a good standing for the LR - or fix it to a tree...

We cant cut the trees up as be far too far to walk with them and be more dangerous than draging the whole thing out. We have decent ground anchors and everything to secure the Disco, it is going to be used for offroading as well in the future so 2 birds one stone. The other option is we might look at a PTO winch for the back of the tractor.
