Ferretboy111
No worries now, have looked at my mags and websites and found out the info, cheers alex
Cranfield
I have been searching as well and found the following recommendation; 5-8 weeks..........10sq ft per bird 9-12 weeks.........30 sq ft per bird 13+ weeks..........40 sq ft per bird. If anti pecking devices are fitted, these measurements can be halved. I found this on a US website. All the UK ones referred to 700 birds a hectare. What did you find out ? Ferretboy111
Basically its 1 bird every 1 meter of perimeter fence, so 100*100 m pen can keep upto about 400 birds. so my 10 by 10 is more than enough for 20 odd birds. Cranfield
I thought they would have more than enough room, but it was frustrating when trying to check, that I couldn't find much info " per bird". Our two pens are about 1 acre each, so I had nothing to realistically compare with. Sounds as though you have got a little Butlins there. Ferretboy111
Yeah luckily i found the info as ive got years worth of sporting gun magazines to flick through aswell as the BASC mags which shows you how to make a diy release pen. It states that one bird per meter is fine, however in cases of large number ie:1000 2 birds per meter can be fine also, im off today to get a price up of the bits i need then should really start to make them, isnt long before they arrive.
