hi guys as a novice i thought id get the info here. what kind of shot would you use for what?

ie

.410

foxes -don't, get a bigger gun!

clays -7 1/2 15g for most targets

birds -15-18g 5-7 shot

12g

foxes -40g+ no.3 or smaller

clays -7 1/2 28g for most things

birds -28-32g 5-7 shot

and anything else you can think of, you know a idiots guide to cartridges.

It's only a rough guide, a lot depends on the situation.

Make sure your gun takes the required length of cartridges, especially using 3" magnum carts for foxes. And older .410's don't all take 3" either, which can limit your shot to around 15g.

Fibre wads are needed on some land and some clay shoots, always check before using plastic (or just use fibre all round).
