Kes
Well, I have to follow the 'grass cutting' post with another timely chat. We all have a family recipe for Christmas cake and the best ones (on the day) have been set aside to mature for months, liberally sprinkled each week with a favourite tipple. So which one is the best recipe as its my favourite cake of all time. My mums recipe came from the good houskeeping cookbook, circa 1956 and includes ten eggs, bags of fruit, cherries etc. I'd like to find one to beat it so - anyone care to pass on a favoured recipe? Pheasant Feeder
Delia's recipe has been consistantly good over the last few years. The misses made 11 of 'em last year and gave most as christmas pressies to friends.

Can you/will you share this recipe with us - we do not have the Good Housekeeping 1956 Cookbook in our extensive library - anything that involves 10 eggs [we have our own] bags of fruit cherries etc is making me very very hungry and there are only around 294 days left to Christmas, so your post is very "timely" - just love that old-fashioned word - circa 1956 maybe. Thanks in anticipation
