Axel
Hi Pigon Watch. Been out a few times in the last few weeks, over peas and got some (50+) but was amazed to see that the pigeons are still in big flocks, up to 300+. Shouldnt they have broken up a bit now and got down to some breeding, or is this a response to their being hit so often? Has anyone else noticed this? Going out on some laid barley in the next day or two, which is usually fun (apart from the 'thunder flies' crawling all over your face of course). Good shooting, Axel (Cambs). Highlander
Think there's a big difference between winter flocks and summer flocks. In winter the birds are as one, almost like those shoals of fish that flow together. In summer the birds might 'flock' together on the feeding grounds but they'll generally be flighting in smaller numbers, ones, twos and threes.
