ayano3
I was working all morning but had arranged to take Col from the forum for a trip out this afternoon. I wont mention he arrived at my door well before I was home from work, (in fact 1 hour early ) but he was practicing for the chaning of the clocks tonight But we set off to have a look around about 1:45pm and found what we thought was a few woodies on one of the rape fields I shoot. When I drove down the field a few yards there was quite a few in the trees so watched it for a while and decided to have a go under the trees they had been flighting in to. Typically they went everywhere other than where we were hidden I decided it was no good so we moved to my small fir wood, good decision. It was slow at first but we had the odd shot or two. There wasnt much wind but there was still a nice flow of birds in the area. The shooting is real tough here, the birds are on you before you get the chance to click the safety off. There isn't many clearings but that makes it great sport. Col soon found his mark and took a nice crosser. I wont mention my shooting as thats not fair . Col did miss a few but shot one real high branch As the sun went down the birds come in from all directions, wonderful sport. The shot to bird ratio was quite good as this is the toughest shooting of all my land. We finished about 6 30pm with a bag of 28 woodpigeons and one squirell. Good shooting Col. Pleased you had a good day here with me. Pics to follow sometime tomorrow.

ayano3
No, the branch and squirrel were no way connected. It was just a funny as I had just explained that if you can you should forget the branches are there, next shot one good sizes branch drops with a thud Photos now on Sporting Photo's Edited March 25, 2012 by ayano3
Colc08
YES! The squirel was on the branch and thats why I shot the branch down. No it really wasn't that isn't the reason at all Poor Grham did nearly got clocked on the head by it though Lol I shouldn't laugh as I certainly would not have stood any chance of being invited back again :o All joking aside though it was great fun shooting with you again Graham Some real fast, tricky shooting and we had a good laugh along the way. Also Graham is incredibly generous and always puts me somewhere where I'll get a few shots, which is great and very much appreciated. I must say though I think Grahams cartridges have heat tracking sensors in them as he couldn't seem to miss if he tried! Some fantastic shooting and a lovely left and right when just getting one quick snap shot off seemed tricky. Top shooting Graham I did miss a few myself. One or two that even now I'm not sure how, but I got a few as well but most of all I had a thoroughly enjoyable time, learned a thing or two and as always the company was great. ayano3
Thanks Col, it takes years of being a C**p shot to become a good shot The bird were fast and very tricky and hard to shoot but I have shot there on many occasions so know what to expect..other than falling branches. Next time I will be wearing a hard hat Like I said, good day out shooting in good company.
