Sco77w
I wish she took a photo. My 3 1/2 month old Springer pup brought a dead mouse to the Mrs. and sat waiting for her to take it from her. Needless to say the Mrs. reacted like most women would and shreeked and turned away just to get the pup jumping up at her and nudging her. I've not tried training for anything other than recall which she does well to being called and on the whistle and she has brought the other dogs tennis ball back to me (for treats) when she does her usual trick and drops it 3 feet away from me. Am I wrong not to start more training yet? I thought it would be best just to let her be a puppy for a while but she seems to be a natural (if theres any such thing). WGD
Nothing wrong with a few play retrieves at that age, puppy dummies or old socks. It is not training as such, just conditioning. I normally have mine picking snipe, woodcock and partridge by that age but many others will disagree.

arwen3513
if the pup is showing willing, then no harm in encouraging the behaviour, just don't overdue it and keep it fun. jan
