topshunt
ok hi all, I do not have a sgc yet just playing the waiting game at the moment, so looking to learn as much as i can. so just a few questions for the more knowledgable please. 1. How many guns can you have on one certificate? is it a case of just writing it on sgc or bit more to it than that.? 2. is a semi-auto more practicle for decoy/hide work than a o/u ie, easier to reload in hide? 3.am i right in thinking you can load 3 shots in semi-auto? 4. how easy is it to check barrel is clear on a semi if you belive shot did not leave barrel as strongly as it should (blockages)? 5 is it easy enough to unload the gun without shooting? say you need to clinb a fence? 6. in a semi- auto when you fire the shot i assume the cartridge is ejected and next load is auto loaded? if so what happens in the event of a squib cartridge, is it possible to wait the 20 to 30 seconds before removing it or would it auto eject? thanks. poontang
ok hi all, I do not have a sgc yet just playing the waiting game at the moment, so looking to learn as much as i can. so just a few questions for the more knowledgable please. 1. How many guns can you have on one certificate? is it a case of just writing it on sgc or bit more to it than that.? As many as you like, within reason. Start accumulating enough to start a small war and you'll probably need to beef up your security. 2. is a semi-auto more practicle for decoy/hide work than a o/u ie, easier to reload in hide? Easier to load in a hide, but the downside is finding/picking up the ejected cartridge cases. 3.am i right in thinking you can load 3 shots in semi-auto? Yes. 1 in the chamber, 2 in the mag. 4. how easy is it to check barrel is clear on a semi if you belive shot did not leave barrel as strongly as it should (blockages)? Very. Empty the magazine, pull back the bolt and have a look down the barrel. thanks.
JonathanL
What he says. Shotguns (sec.2 guns) do not require an individual authorisation so you can buy as many as you can stuff into whatever security device you use. J.

HDAV
1: No limit but some forces require additional security over a certain number typically 8-10, Oh and you NEVER write on your own cert! 2: Can be but it will also spit empties 6-12 feet away 3: 2 in the magazine in the limit, one in chamber is a bonus of poorly written legislation 4: Quite as suggested 5: Just cycle the action, some have a manual mag cut off allowing you to remote the one in the chamber and not load the next from the mag 6: Depends on the semi most wont cycle with a squib (some wont cycle a <28g load that goes off perfectly!) cant hit rabbits 123
ok hi all, I do not have a sgc yet just playing the waiting game at the moment, so looking to learn as much as i can. so just a few questions for the more knowledgable please. 1. How many guns can you have on one certificate? is it a case of just writing it on sgc or bit more to it than that.? You can have as many as you can safely store as far as I am aware. 2. is a semi-auto more practicle for decoy/hide work than a o/u ie, easier to reload in hide? That can be a matter of opinion, and most would say it is easier, yes. 3.am i right in thinking you can load 3 shots in semi-auto? On SGC, yes, it is limited to 3 shots, however on FAC you can apply for a shotgun capable of holding more. 4. how easy is it to check barrel is clear on a semi if you belive shot did not leave barrel as strongly as it should (blockages)? Trickier than an O/U as you cannot see directly down the barrel through the Breech. 5 is it easy enough to unload the gun without shooting? say you need to clinb a fence? Very easy, depending on the gun you can just manually cycle the bolt untill it is empty or lock the magazine to prevent feeding and lock open the bolt with an empty chamber. 6. in a semi- auto when you fire the shot i assume the cartridge is ejected and next load is auto loaded? if so what happens in the event of a squib cartridge, is it possible to wait the 20 to 30 seconds before removing it or would it auto eject? A squib will not auto eject as a semi-auto requires the full power of a fired cartridge to cycle itself. Simple wait for 30 seconds, then manually cycle to eject the squib and load the next shell. However, I advise unloading completely and inspecting your gun for faults or blockages.
