hedd-wyn
Well lads, having said on many occasions 'there are no bloody pigeons in our parts' I have just received a txt off my mate saying that the farmer will be growing wheat in the freshly ploughed filed down on his permission. I quite often see some woodies whilst out shooting crows. But only singles and pairs so I leave them alone and the farmer doesn't see them as a threat, so I don't shoot them. Now is it likely that the wheat will attract wood pigeons? ... and what stage are they likely to start feeding? Need some advice here guys... I've only ever shot one pigeon in my life.... Back in 1994.... with a rusty SMK B4 underlever Heddwch
pegasus bridge
wheat will interest a pigeon 1) on drilling (although most drilling does not leave much) 2) when mature and flattened by very heavy wind or rain (keep a close eye on it - can be a good soure of shooting) 3) on combining ('the stubbles' - good shooting) edit - pigeon only eat the wheat seed - not the leaves etc Edited April 23, 2012 by pegasus bridge
worthy130
There will have to be pigeons in the area to begin with, but usualy after a good wind has blown some mature wheat down they will find it.
