Hatsan AT44-10 anyone own one?

hey there lads and ladies. Just wondering if anyone has one of these and would be able to share some pearls of wisdom. I must admit the price of them is very appealing.

I dont expect the earth out of it though but i am perticulerly interested in the accuracy an the last review of it i was reading (Gunmart) said that unless all pellets are loaded so the skirt os flush with the back of the mag, the accuracy os poor. Also apparantly you dont get a lot of shots at full power.

Can anyone shed any light on these rifles? Ideally someone who genuinly ownes one.

I do own a hatsan escort shotgun, its not bad for he money but its no browning maxis (but i dont expect it to be) does the job real well so far. Although that said its my second one as the choke was poorly machiened on my first and fowled the barrel! So she peeled back in around 50 carts :(

new one seems a lot better though :)

anyway i am drifting away from the topic here.

Thoughts on the at44-10 please folks.

Many thanks

I had one for a few months last year (swapped it with the wife when she bought a Daystate X2 she did not like). I loved it. Mine was great, use a shorter domed pellet and there are no accuracy issues. They are brilliant.

Mine was the AT44 W10, so it had a lovely walnut stock, the finish on mine was great, came with 2 magazines, could not be double loaded, it was quiet, with a moderator on it mad about as much noise as a BSA Super 10. Shot count is a tad low, about 40 in .177, but think about it, when hunting how many shots do you need? Get a 1 litre pony bottle for emergency refills in the field. The other point is they don't take that much air to fill up though!

The trigger is lovely a nice 2 stage job. Auto safety on can be a bit of a pain, but being like the 55 or 60 is a nice large push button at the back of the action that is easy to flick off with the trigger hand thumb.

Comes with 2x10 shot magazines, so you should not run out when on a stalk (unless the ground is covered with terminally stupid bunnies or pigeons). Somebody else on here has one and at the moment is shooting bushy tailed tree rats with it and having a ball!

There are neigh sayers with these guns but I know of two gun shops who have sold plenty of them, not had one back with any problems. It is not a Daystate or HW, but it is as good as a Webley (I wonder why, could it be that the Webleys are built in the same factory), damned site better than an SMK (thought they are CO2), I think they are better than the Pretige Kub (tried one of those for a few days)! Ask to try one on the gun shops range, bet you leave with one!

Hi,Bushy tailed Tree Rat shooter here :shoot: I have the AT44-10 it's spot on,get the synthetic stock version as the Walnut makes the gun a tad heavy,I have just ordered a .177 AT44 after mulling over the HW100(2.5 times the price.!)another thing, before you waste money buying and trying countless types of pellets to suit the AT44 .22 try the AA Field Diablo I just cannot miss from 35-45 yards with these and they grouping is excellent.

I have no trouble with Rabbits,Squirrel,Pigeons,Rats,Corvids etc etc out to 45 yards with the AA Field .22 in 16 grain, the JSB 15.82 grain and the Crosmans are good too.

Hope all helps and good luck

Sorry Mal, could not remember who you were for anything, mole brain shut down. I have been having fun with my Hatsan 60 gas ram (yes there is one commercially available), Hatsans are superb value for money. I do not agree with Mal about the stocks though, I found the walnut balanced it better!

Thing is SAM I have a shoulder injury from my sporting days and I found that with the scope and silencer it got a bit tiring walking around 250 acres of permission, just a personal point really . ;)

Call me thick, but how does a gas ram work,do you pump it up to fire each shot or is it pump once and shoot 20 times :hmm:

A gas ram is a similar device to the thing that holds hatchbacks open (no I am not talking about 4 foot of broomstick). I am talking about the pneumatic struts on cars! Imagine a very small one, that is in the gun in place of a spring, break barrel, it is cocked and held in a compressed state just like a spring. Load and fire and it expands, only in one direction (unlike a spring), so the recoil is reduced, but straight back at you (which is why people think they recoil worse than a spring, they do not, they only recoil in one direction though).

But a gas ram you can leave cocked and the gun will not lose power, as you are compressing gas not metal!

wow! There is some good info there, thanks chaps.

Secretmole u say you only get 40 shots, are they all at full power? I would be buying a .22 version though if i went for it.

Mal, how many shots do you think you get at full power befor she dropps off too much?

I dont shoot many rounds she hunting so i cant see it being an issue. And i ca strap a dive bottle up in the back of my landy anyways if i know its going to be a late one.

As for ammo, im pritty shure i used to use aa fields in my s410 and they were top notch. So i probably have gone down that road again anyway :)

Having not shot this gun all the way out of air I always fill her up after 40 shots but 50 full power shots is recommended in .22 :good:

wow thats great! Even 40shots in .22 would be fab.

I never ran any of my old ones out of air either so i would only need a quick 'top up' after say 4mags. So thats great! Now all i got to do is find a shop with them for reasonable money near me and pop down and take a look :)

I also owned the 44-10 in walnut for about a year, wot a great gun nothing but praise for it on both accuracy and power. Cost £300 with silencer.

Used Logun Penetrators in mine .22 flavour they were spot on, in fact now use them in my latest gun.

It did about 90 shots until the pressure went down to about 110 bar.

Now own a Rapid 7 which is great but i still miss the Hatsan its the best value gun by far and will compete with anything out there even my Rapid!

Buy one you wont regret it al all they are a bargain gun... :good:

Mal the gas ram is just a spring, so it is a single shot break barrel! It is a gas spring, not a coil spring, only difference. But when you pull the trigger it only springs one way, not two, so recoil is reduced!

Thank you SAM,never to old to learn hey !

Just thought while your on,only just got in from a stroll on my permission, shot 2 bunnies (1 below) 1@37yds and the other(will post shortly) @41yds,same combination,AT44-10 AND AA Fields .22 16grn,could have had plenty more but i guess i wasnt stealth enough, bunnies are very nervous recently,i wonder why...must have been a fox about:hmm:

nice! There is no question about it, i will be getting one of these, seems to be the best option all round tbh. And everyone seems to have positive things to say about them. My local shop can do the walnut stock version for £349 does that sound reasonable, bare gun with two mags though
