Dunkield
Well they say all Icelanders are as nuts as Bjork! Here is an example of the vehicles they use to get to the 'interior' (the countryside) which is nothing more than lava covered in moss Firstly the businessman with a weekend house in the country. Then the permanent offroader for getting up to the edge of the glaciers. And how about the ultimate 8 wheel drive beaters wagon? I can't find the words for these, you will have to use your own! They are maninly used for carting American tourists round the island (one is just getting out of the left hand vehicle )
Highlander
What can you expect living on an island with only one road. Mind you with petrol/diesel at (last time I looked) over £5 a litre they must take some serious dosh to run. Beers about the same price and just about everything is much much pricier than here AND in winter you stay at home. Makes the dear old British Isles look positively inviting. Dunkield
They are actually a very well sorted lot. They generate 70% of their power from hydro electric, and the get free heating just by digging a hole down into the ground. They are able to generate power so cheaply that companies are setting up their to produce alumininum which may end up doing them more harm than good. 1% unemployment, and one of the best standards of living in Europe - clean air and water and plenty of room to move The only downsides are the no dark in summer no light in winter, and the fact they work on average 48 hour week Also petrol has just gone up to £1 a litre, (diesel is less) so they are not happy about, and booze is very expensive, most other stuff is just a little more expensive than here.
