The Essex Hunter
In S A Shooter’s last post he mentioned I was setting up a S&B scope on a mates rifle, I bore sighted it using a 2 inch disc 40 yards away and took him to dial it in the other afternoon 7 shots later it was on the money. Last night was his first kill with his Remington 700 .243 in stainless on a Boyds stock. These are the first cubs to show on this particular farm. He whispered there are 2! Click….Bang and Whack… 130 yards, a clean kill to both from the 75 grain Accu Tip With the day light all gone, and at the other end of the farm a set of eyes came out of the hedge and was coming towards us. It did look small but the dark can be deceiving, the sheep were playing up as they normally drift off, but tonight they were working there way back to the gate we were behind.. So not to much time long to take the shot…off went the round on its 145yard journey and the third cub of the evening. With the next lambs due in a few weeks a necessary job completed for the evening.
