Frenchieboy
Chadderton Rifle & Pistol Club had their monthly clay shoot yesterday and for once the wether held out and it was warm and dry. There was a good turnout including a couple of visiting shooters to the club, one of which was a novice that hadn't shot clays before. The shoot was a 25 Bird down the line shoot with some pretty testing birds coming from trap 2 which put them at you at about 40 degrees from right to left and if you were too slow you lost the bird behind you. Nick (Bangbangnik) and I met up at my flat and shared a car to get to the shoot, arriving there at about 09:30 - Plenty of time for a chat, to help set up the traps and cages etc and a lot of banter! Nik shot really well finishing in Second place with (If I remeberr it rightly, if not I am sure that Nik will correct me) 21 out of 25 while I ended up in about 4th place with a scope of 18.5 - A very good score for me I usually struggle to hit double figures on clays and have to search for excuses for my poor shooting! Anyway, well done Nick, you seem to be getting in the top three at every one of our shoots, let's hope we see you winning next month! The points go towards the Cup at the end of the season but here is a photo of Nick receiving his certificate. p.s. Nick, if I get loads more tattoos do you think it will help me shoot as well as you mate? Edited May 21, 2012 by Frenchieboy
BangBangNik
Cheers Pete, as always a top day had by all. No matter what the weather it always seems to be a good laugh. Everybody seemed to shoot well, even ron, neary breaking the double figure mark. I only hope I can shoot like him at that age. As for the tattoos, it's worth a try, you can never have too many Hopefully the new rabbit trap will be making a regular appearance once we can sort the lay of the land out a little. Maybe a £1 winner takes all sweep would be abit of fun for that. They are that random I don't think anyone's level of ability would help, more luck than management. Looking forward to next month. Frenchieboy
That's worth a thought about the rabbit trap and a £1 a piece kitty. All Gerry neds to do is put the flail on the back of the tractor and do a cut about 3 tractor widths wide and it will make for some "interesting" rabbits with the rabbit disappearing now and then behind the tuffets of grass and reeds! pg123
Hey Frenchie not sure about the tattoos but maybe its the pies that help Nik stay steady in the wind? All joking apart I have shot with Nik on more than one occasion and he is a very good shot and a half decent bloke to boot

Im originally from Oldham and worked at the butchers opposite the pub Pub* Hi Mate, Sorry but I think you might be thinking of a different club/clay ground. Chadderton Rifle and Pistol Club have their clay ground at Ellenrod Farm at Milnrow on land owned by Gerry (The owner of Towers of Rochdale). As far as I know they have been shooting there for countless years as Gerry's father is one of the founder members. Our club cahirman lives at Chadderton so if I remember I will ask him if he knows which club runs that ground you have mentioned.
