Thedeerman
I've got an 8 week old cocker arriving on 21st July. I've decided that she will be living out and am in the process of building her a nice plush kennel and run measuring 4.2M x 1.5M. This being my first pup having only had older rescue dogs before and never a kenneled one, should she be housed in the kennel as soon as she arrives? or ould it be best for her to be in the house until she's a bit older? All advice appreciated. Joe
kent
I like to keep them in house a fair bit for socialisation / house breaking as pups but always out at night. Also try and get the pup to like its kennel, walking it out of house with its feed and repeating "Kennel" soon gets them running for it. Also spend time out in the kennel with it
chrispti
Kenneled mine from day one. She quickly associated her kennel as her safe house.
malantone
AS SAID, MINE SLEPT IN KENNEL AND FED THERE 4 TIMES A DAY FROM DAY ONE, WAS IN THE HOUSE WITH US DURING THE DAY, HE`S NOW 12MTH OLD AND RUNS INTO THE KENNEL WHENEVER TOLD, ITS HIS PLACE HE NEVER GETS CHASTISED WHILE IN THERE. TOP TIP, BORDEM HAS TO BE OVERCOME, COVER ALL CHEWABLE EDGES WITH METAL, SUPPLY WHITE WOOD PIECES AS CHEWABLES OR TOUGH TOYS. GOOD LUCK Edited June 7, 2012 by malantone
