apbuild
Guy's, I have a Sako 75 with a stainless barell, in .308 and would ask for your honest opinions as to the best sound moderator to fit on this rifle. I am going to vary my FAC but will take the majority advice from your experiences when choosing the type of moderator to be fitted. Cheers, Rob. Devilishdave
I was on the DSC1 with a few other lads that had different moderators. A few of the guys commented that my T8 with muffeler was audably quiter than the others. Dave
miffy
Get the T8......anything is better than that thing you brought to Bisley I had a mod on my old .308 and it improved the rifle no end
mry716
http://aseutra.fi/english/index.html Have a look at this site and consider the AUS5 It is stainless so will not corrode like the Reflex do and although it screws on the end of your vbarrel is so short it only sticks out the same as a T8. It is also a little lighter and the sound suppression is slightly better. These are not subjective comments merely scientific facts as gleaned from the site above and Jacksons who are the importers. A few £ more but I feel worth while if only because you will not have to clean it EVERY time you use it like you MUST with the T8.
apbuild
Going for the ASE AUS5 as this is stainless steel and will complement my barell. I have seen this at the gun shop today and I have to say it is by far the best looking of the centrefire sound moderators and compact too. Should be able to get my gunsmith to adapt my barell and fit the moderator for a good price. Look forward to reporting on the difference it makes. Rob. mry716
Hi, Good choice but do make sure the person that threads the barrel cuts the shoulder exactly right as any free play WILL cause accuracy problems. It needs to push on smoothly without any sideways movement whatsoever for the 3/4" before you start to screw it on the thread. You should find some difficulty in actually putting it on to the end of the barrel as it will need to be aligned perfectly (if cut correctly) before it will push onto the shoulder and something as short as the silencer can be difficult to get in perfect alignment. Do not accept an inferior job and do choose someone with a good reputation as this will at least give you a head start. Regards M
