shakin stevens
Hi What with the shortage of ITM for hand loading is anybody hand loading any nice shot or have already used some? I did some research on the stuff and it looks good so got some from the states, i now know Clay and Game sell it now. Ive now got a couple of kgs and it looks ok a few miss shaped pellets but its soft like lead but i will still put a wrap in for the safe side, and work off normal data like they say, im only going to use it in old fowling guns. Magus69
Here is a PM I sent to another member regarding Nice-Shot I hope it is of some help to you. The first lot I bought was from Ecotunsten themselves no minimum order and I think postage was $25, the second lot came from Precision reloading (USA) again no minimum order don't know the actual postage cost as I bought other items at the same time. I bought from Precision reloading the last time because their prices are better than Ecotungstens, I paid no duty on either and Ecotungsten marked theirs as "Sporting goods Fishing weights" I don't know whether that made the difference or whether I was just lucky. I found using Ecotunsten that the chamber pressures are increased for the same load in lead so I would advise finding recipes on the low side or reduce your powder charge. Nice shot is also less dense than lead so you get more pellets per charge which proved a little problematic for use in my BP 8 bore as I couldn't fit everything in the cartridge case so I'm having that one rechambered to 4". So far I've had very pleasing results with it using Bluedot in the 4 bore and my double 8 and as I said I'm having the single 8's chamber recut for a longer cartridge. I've not tried it in the 10's or the 12's as I haven't needed to. Hope this's been of help and just out of curiosity what'll you be firing it through? Mike... Thanks for the reply, its for a old double 10b in very good order with very tight chokes, and a single 4b, ive not looked at blue dot, im on csbo or 381 i knew it increases back pressure so was going to drop the grains and use card cup nitro card for a better seal. rgds bob.
