Bleeh
Thinking of doing what I failed to do last year when it was ''Cool'' and give the Crayfishing a bit of a go, but I've got a few questions. 1.) When applying to the license to you need to prove you've got permission for access? what if your access is though a public footpath/public land? 2.) I heard that you can fish without a license as long as you don't leave the traps unsupervised, is this true? 3.) With question 2.), does that apply to any sort of trap, or only the weighed lift net sort? 4.) Best places to leave traps? Cheers in advance, Andrew
stubby
1.) When applying to the license to you need to prove you've got permission for access? what if your access is though a public footpath/public land? no, all the info you need to give is the stretch of river/lake/pond etc, go to google maps of the area and pinpoint areas, it'll give you an area number, something like tc44678, add that to your application, plus names of river/nearest village etc 2.) I heard that you can fish without a license as long as you don't leave the traps unsupervised, is this true? your not FISHING, fishing consists of a rod and line, your using drop nets, drop nets dont need a fishing license 3.) With question 2.), does that apply to any sort of trap, or only the weighed lift net sort? see answer to question 2, dont buy cube type nets from flea bay, or infact dont use them at all, these type are not favoured by environmental people as they can harm otters, voles etc, drop nets are far easier to make and apply for 4.) Best places to leave traps? where theres crayfish you dont want to be LEAVING traps, that opens up a whole new ball game, stay their for a few hours, have fun, take the kids, if theres crayfish around, you'll have a brilliant day out
