duke hamish
How long dose everyone wait before feeding thier polts away from the release pen? We usualy try to keep them on the inside of the pen for as long as we can. We generaly worm them after a couple of weeks when they have the early sighns of gapes. We use flubavet in the pellet so they have to be on that for ten days, then we try to keep them as long as possible but I was thinking we could be loosing a lot of birds due to wandering in this time. So do i feed them away from the pen (to whear i want them to be) before they start to wander on thier owne. We hopper feed with pellets all year round and hand feed Wheet on straw, on feed rides! russ91
If there starting to wonder then yes start feeding to where you want them but it seems a bit early for that yet
worthy130
They will let you know when they are ready to go. We have our ex layers on the whistle which makes life dead easy when it comes to feeding them out. One of our pens is getting fed out tomorrow, and then dog them back in after feeding. Taffyshooter
Each batch is different according to breed, age etc. - you just have to keep an eye on things and when it becomes clear there gettin more adventurous, you then move on locating your feed barrels where you want the birds to be.
