Last time I was up mate was last Tuesday and that was the first night they started to roost on holy island sands mate , idiot tea to go up on weekends as it's usually a bum fight so I usually go midweek when it's nice and quite and not disturbed had the flight of a lifetimes at week at dolphin stones don't think ill ever beat it , I havnt been up in the past week so I couldn't tell you where the geese are now but they have all been at budle bay recently until last week but now there on the sands hopefully they'll just hop between there , goswick and Fenham flats

Tides are looking good for tide flighting and with the strong winds should bring good shooting , good luck for your next outing

New to lindisfarne, permit should be here some time in the next day or two, got a week off work and I need as much advice as possible. I've got decoys, a dog, hide equipment, waders, a berretta al391, steel shot a good knowledge of target species and enthusiasm to lie in cold dark mud for fun. The only thing I'm really missing is any experience of the area and tides. Any help great fully appreciated.

this wkend's tides are good for tide flighting if u get ya permit...fenham-le-moor access point probs the most used in the way of decoying...if the north east winds are still on head south past the black hut, then you will come to tealhole point (stone hide on the shore) anywere from there right around to the out ov bounds markers furher south is 1st class when weva is on!!...alternatively same parking area but follow shore north to the bay keep a lookout for a washed up log anywere in that area is great if conditions are right...good luck..al be up w me bruva 1 ov days at wkend say hello can give you few pointers...silver 13plate berlingo or white tranny 51plate..the dog mobile!! atb Robbie :good::good:

I did go up to Teal point and I was amazed at the number of wigeon. As soon as I sat down in the hide I decided to sit and watch for a bit, what a mistake. A single wigeon right over the top of my head, gun still in the slip. So I got it out, loaded it and another bird passed me right to left, but I didn't take the shot, then it doubled back on me and I managed to get two shots away, miss! Miss!

I sat about another hour before another bird passed me on the left hand side, one shot, another miss! That was in it in the way of shots but the number of wigeon heading from the south to the north had me transfixed. There were four pinks came in late on but not within shooting range.

I forgot to say, I got there about 4:30pm and was back at the car for 7:00pm, soaked, cold and bitten completely by the bug. Back again Friday and Sunday. I loved every minute of it.

I'll happily show you dolphin stones mid week when tides are right and I'm back up , as that is my preferred place on low tide for morning flight had a fair few!! Red letter flights there over the years including an evening flight around 2 weeks ago whih resulted in 2 greys 2 pinks as 3 wigeon :)

if you go to harveys just walk right round to the boundry signs then just walk straight out in direction ov the castle you will know when u get onto it as it is a rocky stoney bit ov hard ground just look around til u find the stone butts,u might have to build it up abit,a find the 1 on the south edge is best for keeping hid as it has lots of seaweed around it...don't worry about walkn on the mud its not tht sinky there few inches at most..also come off the way u go on aswell or the warden be on ya case if he sees u going off the quick route..just to give u the heads up..let me na later how you get on see if u can spot which way the geese are moving off..the wigeon will come probs from the south just after 1st light usually...straight powder to u,happy hunting :good::ninja::ninja::ninja:

I did shoot Harvey's this morning and thanks for the advice on how to get there. Got there about 5am and took a slow wander round. There were thousands of wigeon right in front of Harvey's in the dark and as soon as the first signs of light they lifted in to packs, the noise was amazing. Both flocks headed south and very little else happened until 7:30am when the geese started coming from the south, about 500 at first, half dropped on to the flats south of the boundary and half dropping into a grass field behind the boundary. There was a steady trickle of smaller skeins dropping onto the land and a few skeins were skirting the boundary.

A single teal broke in front of my stone butt, swing and a miss from me. I decided to move over to the boundary and see if any geese decided to fly close enough over me. As soon as I sat down I noticed a single heading straight for me, ******* Brent, right over my head.

Then the wigeon started to move North again, right in front of Harvey's, elementary mistake moving but it's a lesson learnt. I sat an watched the wigeon for about a half hour, I could have had loads of shots, ******!

When I got back to the car Colin was waiting for me and he gave me a few pointers.

Might be back up again in the morning.
