Drayman
They stand out a mile in the fields and there are plenty local to me. Some of my books say some types or parasol mushrooms are not that edible. Does anyone know for sure? I'm not talking about "well it never did me any harm", just want the facts. And if there is a risk, is the taste so good that risk is worth taking? Cheers.
Gimlet
Parasols are very good. Make sure they are parasols though and not Panther caps.

Drayman
Much appreciated - will start with a nibble just in case!
Bleeh
Christ, let's get our facts straight. Shaggy Parasols are fine for most people, but some people can be sensitive to them (like some people can be sensitive to milk or wheat, etc), eat a small amount first and see how you do after 24 hours. If no ill effects pick and eat them to your hearts content. (just make sure they are identified correctly)
UKPoacher
One of the tastiest mushrooms I've eaten. They soak up moisture though so don't wash them and don't overdo the oil.
UKPoacher
Found a couple today while out mole trapping. We were having sausage casserole for dinner so they came in very handy
