Matto I shoot .177 at all quarry the only place it will not do the job is on rats, it just glides straight through and ratty runs away, this is the only time i would say that a .22 is better than .177.

1of5 I am thinking of a .25 supersport but have just been put of by your comments, I was led to believe there was loads of different brands of ammo available?

There are quite a number of brands but all of them bar the Mosquitoes/FTT are **** ballistically. Not a great problem over ratting ranges but if you want to shoot at 25 yds or more the poor ballistics take their toll on the retained energy.

As a rule I'd recommend .22 for almost any reason over .25, especially as a .22 will stop any legit airgun quarry perfectly adequately. The extra calibre dimension is rather irrelevant.

If you must use a .177 on rats then use wadcutters or hollowpoints. I prefer wadcutters as they penetrate slightly less. The lack of accuracy inherent in a flathead is of little importance at ratting ranges.
