how much rto

Recommended Posts

Hi all went out to test some 3-1/2" steel loads that i have just loaded up the data i have is a rto finish. I put pattern plate up and put first shell at it pattern not to bad. BUT then when i saw some geese coming at me i loaded my baikal mp153 semi up and found tha i could only get 1 shell in the mag but i could get a 3" in with the 3-1/2" which was ok at the time geese still coming downed one with the first shot and swung on another but no shell in the chamber ??? . looked at the gun and it looked like the cartridge was yust to long to come out of the mag for the slide to lift it up to the chamber. So my questions are

1) How much rto do you put on a cartridge with a card or frag rto ?

2) Can you rto and still get 2 shells in the mag or do you have to crimp ?

3) and lastly boild or fryed rice with goose curry

cheers

ben

normal 12gauge fold crimp should be 1/2".

cut off 1/4" and roll turn in future. it should be deep enough roll turn remaining 1/4".

however, alittle more (few mm) isnt going to be a problem.

Thanks Cook i will give it ago in the morning. I think i will have to alter the load as the data i have been trying comes to about 5 or 6mm from the case top which i am not getting a verry good rto finish.

if this is your CSBO load you will have trouble, you will have to trim the wad so you can just get 42 grams of shot in then trim the case I use a 31/2" over/under so dont get this problem some shooters I know even drop this load down to 40grams to get it to run through some autos which is a pain in the a r s e this was another downfall of CSBO it was just so bulky
