Help needed from HR Guru

Evening all,

Well it was a normal day until 5.35pm when I pull up at home to be confronted by my boss. He let rip at me and called me just about every offensive name under the sun and threaten to smash my head in. I never retaliated and after 10mins he left.

Now the background, I am not an employee as such but made a junior partner about 6 months ago.

Reason for the eruption was non work related in any sense, I have basically dropped him in the brown stuff with him family, not intentionally, but his error for saying things he should not have said. (all gets very complex)

Now from the verbal abuse received I have no intentions of continuing to work for him for the long term, however, what holds does he have on me?

In the sense of notice I have to give or breach of partnership act( I have never signed a partnership agreement) I have a set partnership salary, not invested any funds and have very little to do within the management and running of the business.

I am not looking for compensation as I rather go quickly and quietly and get on with finding another job, however I don't want any backlash or liability.

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated as he wants a meeting 1st thing, I have already been advised to make sure someone else is present.

He is used to bullying people, but fortunately he has never done this to me in the last 6 yrs, as we usually get on and I do bring him in a lot of fees.

Any thoughts will be welcomed!!!

Cheers

NB
