borich
The Mrs is going to treat me to a rough shooting gun for Christmas with a budget of 350 tops. Having looked around the net I'm liking the following 12G Hatsan Escort Field Hunter synethetic shotgun which is available new at 328 from here http://www.guns.gb.com/contents/en-uk/ d148_Hatsan_Arms_Escort_field_hunter_pump_action.html It will be mainly used in hive against pigeons so what length barrel? 24,26,28 or 30inch barrel available. The second option is is a semi auto version of the gun which is 388 new from the same site. I look forward to your thoughts.
Shoot-rhino
If it's just for rough shooting, a hatsan will do the job, I have 3.5" semi Auto in the camouflage colours, it's cheap and cheerful, fires anything I ask it too, and if it happens to get dirty or muddy, who cares at that price! borich
Any disadvantage of the pump over the semis?
paddywack12
Hatsan Escorts are marmite guns (you either love em or hate em) I LOVE mine and not just because I shoot well with it, As others have said its cheap and cheerful you get a new gun for 300 odd quid, 5 chokes, stock spacers and a 3 year guarantee. It dosent matter if it gets covered in mud or blood and chucked in the back of the truck. Get one and enjoy

Albert 888
Any disadvantage of the pump over the semis? You have to pump it.

Albert 888
I can live with that lol fair enough. Im lazy and would go down the auto route, pumps are abit of a gimick in my eyes but each to their own.
borich
Are there still cycling issues with the autos?
Albert 888
Mine cycles all cartridges i put up it apart from barangie 70 mm 36g 4's steel, the brass hilt expand too much in the chamber and gets stuck. which is a sx3. My old faithfull 810 cycled everything that would go in it,but like a fool i sold it to get the sx3.Keep them clean and lubed is the trick. jmoz82
Get a pump there far more reliable than a cartridge fussy auto, I shoot better with a pump than i ever did with an auto with no JAM'S !!!! borich
The Hatsan Arms Escort MPS Shotgun and Hatsan Arms Escort MPa Shotgun look good. The MPA has a pistol grip would that have any point for pigeon or clay shooting?
