pigeonslayer15
Hi all just a quick question I have a nice little flight pond on my perm which I have been feeding very regular and having some good numbers of duck coming in, I went up to feed it on Friday and there was 4 swans on there and has bin since then, now the problem is there seems to be not much duck coming in at all now, which I think the swans will finishing all the feed, how can I keep them from doin that? I'm just hoping they will move on but I know that won't happen if I carry on feeding it Please help guys
Kes
I wonder if they would stay if you shot a few duck whilst they were present and feeding ? Other than that, the best option is to stop feeding and to try and clear the weed on the pond with sewelling dragged across the surface of the water from a fixed point on the far side. Whilst they are obviously after the feed, I'd be tempted to ask the local farmer if he has any crow scarers and leave them out during the day/early evening.and see whether they scare more than the crows. I am sure non of the above is illegal..

sethb
Had the same problem for years mate, while you feed the pit swans will appear, apart from going twice a day to put the dogs in the water to put them in flight, not a lot you can do,they dont seem to bother the ducks, but god they can eat plenty of feed.
