Wildfowler12
As the year draws to a close I found myself browsing my shooting diary to see how successful the year has been. In amoungst the blanks, there have been a few days which stood out. Twice, I've taken a PW member (wilfowling virgins) out for their first ever trip to the marsh. We had 2 great days with everyone bagging a mixture of ducks and a bonus goose each. TBH, I don't even remember the day for the shooting, I just enjoyed the company, and particularly enjoyed working the dog for them. One of the guys (Pigwig) was instantly hooked, and now has his name down on our clubs waiting list But above all the rest, I will remember one morning flight in particular as my 2012 highlight. One of those days where everything comes right, and you know the recon was worthwhile. http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/223422-the-marsh-is-alive-with-the-sound-of-music/page__fromsearch__1 I'd be interested to hear what days have stood out for you guys, and if there is a link to your write up. Here's wishing you all another successful years fowling! Edited December 31, 2012 by Wildfowler12
Big Mat
The one that springs to mind is a particularly blank morning the other week. I'd gone out onto the marsh with ayano3, barrold. Graham ( ayano3 ) stayed back on the corner of a big creek, and me and barry went 150 yards ahead of him till we met a creek crossing the marsh. Barry dropped into the side of this creek and i headed left to meet the big creek as i had a dog. Sat there for a while and just as it was making light i hear a woosh and see a teal come over the top of me maybe 2 foot from the top of my head :o About an hour later 2 more teal came over me even lower! Although i didnt get a shot off it just shows how close you can get to the birds if you are in the right place and you keep your head down!
