paul99
Maybe too late now but this is what I came up with for GCSE technology years ago. It's had a few alterations since (hence the newer looking welds) and really is an on going project that gets a bit more work each time it's needed. Of course it looks a mess and there's plenty of mistakes too - I'd do it a bit differently next time if I was to do another (like cocking it right handed - I did it to suit myself and right handers struggle cocking it with the spring wound up a bit). Despite what it looks like it does work surprisingly well and will throw a standard clay over 80 yds. Pairs are a little hit and miss in that they don't stay tight together - a result of the aluminium flexing under the strain - it was all I had access to at the time. It improves each time I fiddle with it but its got to the point where a complete new build would make more sense TBH. As it was all made with scrap the only expense was the spring (£30ish - Stuart High speed 10 years ago or so) but I doubt you would be able to source all new metal and parts for less than you could buy a whole working trap - especially a second hand one. Still it might give some people out who like making their own things there a few ideas to get going with... Paul.
