Quist
I went out a couple of weeks ago shooting rabbits with my Sako 22 rimmy. It chucked it down and I was quite wet when I got home. I stripped and cleaned the gun and put it away. When I came to use it again yesterday, I found some patches of rust on the bolt and just couldn't figure how they got there. It dawned on me today that after cleaning, I put the bolt back in its cordura holster before locking it in the separate safe. The holster must've been wet still although it didnt feel it. Is there any way of cleaning of the rust without causing further damage to the bolt???
the last engineer
take some steel wool wire wool and gently remove the rust, hopefully its still only surface rust, oil after and be careful the next time out, do you not have a sock oil impregnated for you bolt to live in ?? worth getting one i feel. pin
Just make sure its nice and fine wool (000 grade) and some oil. Stick a vp90 pouch in the safe with the bolt and it shouldn't happen again.
