Lukedavis27
Hi guys iv been shooting for around 3 months now doing alot of target practice and plinking.. Iv got my first bit of land to shoot on, I was just wondering when I go out in the field do I have to contact 101 and let the police know I will be out shooting? Thanks
FalconFN
I wouldn't unless there is a very good reason, ie near to homes and businesses or a school. There is no requirement to let the police know.
Lukedavis27
Ok thanks just didn't want to go out and then have the helicopter and armed response turn up lol
TaxiDriver
Some people will say, the more people that ring the 101 number before they go out shooting ( a legal past time/hobby) then the more likely the powers that be will try and make it compulsory  Maybe, Common Sense should prevail, as other respondants have said, If your shooting is likely to cause concern to anyone in the vicinity (remembering that lots of people have no idea of firearms and safe shooting) then it might be an idea, maybe initially. Lukedavis27
Ok thanks.. It's on a farm away from foot paths and roads so I should be ok
secretagentmole
Depends, I was reported by a dog walker who was trespassing once. Luckily I had dialled 101 and told them. I always tell the police as I can be seen from roads, houses and mad idiots exercising the Hound of The Basketballs across the permission! jackinbox99
As others have said depends on where you are shooting. If your in the middle of nowhere like you say, then i wouldnt bother.
