lewis2012
Hi all I'm looking to purchase a .223 hopefully within the next 6weeks and have been doing my homeworn which 1 to get as its my first CF. A mate of mine has a friend who maybe interested in selling his Tikka T3, PSE mod + scope but not sure how much. My local SGC has a pre-owned Remington 700 SPS Varmint, no scopes or mod and that's up for £425. Upon searching the net I've came across a Browning a-Bolt Stainless Stalker, composite stock for £600 brand new, looks stunning but not a lot of reviews to be found on that model? I do like the X-bolt stainless but at £850 its a little out of my price range. I've also noticed that the standard A bolt retails for around £450 so whate in stainless or standard barrell? Obviously its stainless but what are the gains to be had? Isit worth spending the extra 200 on stainless when that can go towards my scope? Has anyone had the A-Bolt 2 aswell? It will be used for fox and long range vermin, so looking for an all weather stock. Thanks all Lewis
flynny
Ive the a bolt stalker synthetic black stock .223 mate without the stainless barrel, if used for foxing dont bother with the stainless, save your money and get a decent scope. Apart from not rusting imo I cant see the point in a stainless steel barrel just make sure the gun is wiped down after your outing. Some one will proberbly say that the SS barrell has this/that advantage which I dont know much about so I cant comment. Mine shoots 1" groups at 100 yds with factory ammo and Charlie dont like it one bit. I have also been shooting 6" X 6" Steel plate at 300yds more than enough accuracy to drop charlie,With home loads and a better shot behind the rifle ha, ha imo this could be improved, A good gun for reasonable money, ATB Flynny Edited March 5, 2013 by flynny
