MITCHF
Mine ran like a pig not long after I bought it, I thought I'd got a bad 'un, turbo whistling like a budgie. It had all it's recalls done. Replaced "one" injector, gave it a full service, all was well after that. Powerful and solid once you've sorted the IM issues. Got to change oil very regular and at quite short intervals mate. Trouble with owners forums, everyone wants to tell you what's wrong in their opinion, you end up with your head spinning and thinking it could be loads of things it isn't. Good luck
NIGHT SEARCHER
i though the paj was supposed to be a supper reliable car , mrs has been looking at them to replace her disco . maybe not now cheers Shogun my 1997 LWB has all the toys leather cruise. It has 2WD---4WD---4WD LOW---Transmission lock---Diff lock. 2.8 TD Manual it dose 25 around town 33 on a run. And loads of room. It has a massive sun roof that is great for lamping and shooting. I only give £1500 for my 97 Shogun with all the toys and Leather and its the flared arch wings model. It pull`s like a train. Its never got stuck in mud and its a pleasure to drive. In 18 months I have spent £350 on it. Ceramic heater plugs £100. Oil and filters changes. £50. Rocker gasket. Front injector pump oil seal fitted £180. Go for the 2.8 TD. Very good reliable lump. The 2.5 TD is weak and so brakes heads and cranks. The V6 petrol is very thirsty and can be troublesome. For a big 4x4 they are outstanding. Guest rimotu66
SnapCap, if its a 3.0 tread very carefully, have a look at http://www.itocuk.co.uk/forums/index.php you will find more then enough info on there to know what to look for, if you do go to look at the Trooper make sure its in the morning and the engine is stone cold, start it up and see if the oil light (not the pressure guage) go's out straight away, if it dosnt my advice would be walk away, again make sure its stone cold, I stupidly believed the seller/swapper when he said he only started it because he had to go to the shop even though I had asked him not to before I got to see it. Darren, apparently the 2.5 is the one to avoid, the 2.8 is supposed to be ok. I have spoken to TrooperDan who is up the road from me near York and when I have checked the oil pickups and changed the filters and oil he is coming to mine with his tech2. The Terrano is ok, not as strong as the Trooper but a lot better on fuel and stronger then the 300tdi Disco. Sorry to hear your Mrs is cold and expensive, if its any help my Mrs was like that...................... I divorced her MitchF, havnt had chance to look at mine yet, fingers crossed the turbo will stop howling when I service it, not holding my breath though, I agree with you about forums and everyones opinions but if you read long enough you can easily sort the straw out from the chaff NightSearcher, apology not excepted then Edited March 26, 2013 by rimotu66
NIGHT SEARCHER
Apology is excepted sorry for not replying i hope you can sort your Trooper out. I don`t like the sound of the low oil pressure though it could turn into a right money pit. Your first instincts might be right just out it on ebay.
