actionman1
Recently i bought some Flocked Pigeon shells, they look good but the color is rather lighter than the real birds. Some birds do come into them, when they are decoying, but looking to maximize the effect. Has anyone tried painting them a darker grey matched to a real bird? or is it not a problem? I was thinking of Spraying them with acrylic paint or stenciling them with a brush. Please let me know your thoughts
Bluebarrels
Ive got the same problem, was out shooting last week and some of the flocked feeder's out in my pattern were much lighter in colour than the rest of the deeks Ive painted them darker and will try them on the next outing maybe more for my peace of mind but thought I would give it a go get yourself down to wilkinsons 3x pots of tester paint are a £1 at the minute BB
turbo33
Pinting flocked ones I have found is a bit of a pain. The flocking soaks up the paint like a sponge and it seems to take ages to dry. Might work better if you scuff some of the flocking off with a wire brush on an electric drill. Thats what Chris Green does on his. Or maybe some sort of sealant first, like unibond. Bluebarrels
If you decide to paint flocked deeks ,dry them using a fan heater otherwise like turbo33 said above they take forever to dry and if you go down the sealing route try pva glue BB
matty*
I repainted all my flocked decoys with normal "matt" paints. Dried fine and quick i used the around five times, they worked fine but now i mainly just use dead birds out of the freezer.
