In one word: yes.

But... you will need to be responsible for food, cleaning it out, fresh water, bedding and a suitable cage. You should get 2 as they get lonely on their own. A ferret is a good pet and are easily litter trainable and my little brother was 7 when I first got ferrets and he handled them fine and they got along well but it will certainly need to be 'your ferret' for a few years. I feed mine James Wellbeloved Ferret Complete.

Ask if you want to know anymore.

hi i got my self 2 sandy's about 2 months ago i think they are cool also so does my little one she is two nearly three she knows that they are not to be messed with but at the same time she knows that when we have them out for a run around in the front room that she will be ok and when they have calmed down she may stroke one while i hold it. i see know reason why you should have a problem owning a ferret and lettting your daughter help with them. just be careful it is not just a phase for her as they do like to be fussed well mine do

all the best hope you can make a decision.

don't think its a phase been putting her of for over a year just in case. i'm not too bothered by looking after them.

so a pair is better than singluar. i was think just feeding them and thing that get shot, i.e pigeon crow and rabbit stuff like that. would that be ok

It would be fine :good:

Just freeze the crows shot for 2 weeks, as i have found from experience, they seem to carry nasty parasites.

Watch your youngen carfully, as even though, well handled ferrets are fine, they can be unpridictable, some small thing might scare them and you dont want their teeth sinking in, thats for sure. ;):lol:

Supervision with ferrets and young children, is PARAMOUNT :)

If you supervise her when handling them and they are used to being held no problem ! they make a better pet than a rabbit.

my lad is now 17 but this is him age about 4.

He has looked after my ferrets since he was about 10,cleaning, feeding and hand tameing the youngsters, and cant get enough of working them.
