drilled barley

Went for a few hours yesterday morning , after chasing pigeons around the rape fields all winter ,without much success . I found a field that had been drilled this week . Not a lot about on the drill but thought I needed a change . So set up by 7.30 and waited to see if anything thing was interested . Not long before the pigeon decided to come and hav a look . Steady shooting for the first hour witch resulted in 7 coming to the bag . It went quiet after that , and I only added another 3 for the next 2 hours should of been at least another 5 for the bag but some shoddy shooting payed to that .

One shot witch I will remember , a highest bird coming towards me I shot and it folded up and came straight for me . I thought to myself this might hurt ,so I ducked down and it ended up missing me and nose dived straight into my cartridge bag .

Not great shooting but very enjoyable .

Has anybody else had a near miss like this ? Lol

A mate was shooting mallard on a stubble one morning and on killing a high bird it hit him on the knee cap , knocking him over and he was unable to walk for a couple of days. I once shot a high crow that hit me on the head , but with little long term effect , though my mates might dissagree with that. There was also a high pigeon that on being shot fell straight into my open game bag and a mate who caught a falling pigeon in his left hand. Perhaps my worst problem was caused by a high pink foot that splattered into the bottom of the very muddy creek I was hiding in. The mud splashed over my face and into my eyes making shooting impossible for the remainder of the flight. O , one more years ago I almost killed my dog , she ran to the first half of a right and left at pink feet. On picking the first bird the second almost hit her , missing her by more than an inch or two.
