Amazed
After putting it off for a long time I am finally getting my hornet screw cut and whilst its in its being re chambered in k hornet. I know the performance benefits are minimal I will gain on case life and maybe accuracy. Has anyone done the modification or seen the results for them selfs ? Thanks Karl. Good luck with it, and let us know how it performs. Bit puzzled about the case life bit though, just how long do you think they will last now ? Mine is just a normal .22 Hornet, brass is plain old PPU and only ever neck sized, all cases are now over 20 loads old with no issues. Neil. Hi pal, from what I have read the brass should last for ever never needing to be trimmed. I will put a grouping up before and after see if there is any change

I will put a grouping up before and after see if there is any change I'll try it another way then, they last forever now, so how much of an improvement do you expect ? Also what improvement in FPS do think you will get, and what bullets and powder will you use ? Neil.

So I will have to let you know in time on that one. 300 mp is looking to be my first choice of powder if i can get any. speeds up to 3500 fps with a 40 grain pill can be achieved but not on a hot day ha ha. So in reality not much its more for the pure enjoyment

Personally I think if that is the performance you want you have bought the wrong gun. Neil. Edited May 11, 2013 by Hornet

I think you have the wrong end of the stick pal. That's what has been achieved but am not looking for that. The 300 mp powder is a good choice for 22 hornet a standard load will produce 2950 fps with a 40 grain pill. So 3500 from a k isn't a long way off but way too hot for me. Hornet 6
What is this 300 mp powder, not heard of it, I don't think. I just stick with what has worked for me, 35 grain bullets get H110, 40's I have stopped using, and the 45's get LilGun. All rounds clock over 3000fps from a standard 22 hornet, not really looked that hard at the K, I looked briefly a while back but decided that with modern powders there was little to gain, except case life, but trimming to length is no hard ship, and as I crimp all loads the cases get trimmed every time, needed or not as it keeps the crimps even from batch to batch. Good luck and let us know how it works for you, had I not got other C/F calibre's I may also have looked harder at the K myself. Neil.
