The Ghost
The best hide is always a natural one if that is available, many times you see shooters who want birds 20-30 yards in front of them....only to find if they followed the flight lines 500 yards behind them they will have far better results. Many things are missed if you don't spend time on recon, this is important as it improves kill rate. Get a good net and a knife and think 'Cammando' if you find the flight lines your hide will be used for many years to come.....so build it for the long term not pop-up. Frenchieboy
I have one of these pop up hides ; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAMO-STEALTH-POP-UP-DOME-HIDE-TENT-2-3MAN-PHOTOGRAPHY-PIGEON-DECOYING-FISHING-/221218818164?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item3381ab4874#ht_972wt_1162 It is fine for one or even two people sitting and keeps you warm and dry if the weather turns. The only thing that I can fault with it is that you have a few "blind spots" with overhead or high birds - To be honest this is one thing that I am finding off putting and why I am thinking of selling mine and going back to the "standard" type of hide with netting and poles. Other than that I can put mine up and pack it away in a matter of minutes and if you do get on with these type of hides they are really pretty good in most other respects. Norfolk Ern
I'd go standard hide with some poles and natural cover. I have found the shape and size of mine varies with where I'm shooting and often find I'll raise/lower certain parts of it depending on the pigeons approach, field of fire and wind direction. As you'll learn, decoying varies immensely and flexibility to change things quickly is the best approach. Additionally, pop up types do tend to restrict your field of fire.
