ben0850 Posted May 8, 2013 Report Share Posted May 8, 2013 We have pretty much completed spring drilling and the last lot to go down was getting a bit of stick from a mixed bunch of the black stuff. The brother in law asked if I'd have time to "persuade" them to dine elsewhere. We are just about finished lambing so bank holiday Sunday morning I got up at 6 and headed down to set up where the Corvids had been feeding, I only had time for a few hours so took three fuds, some pigeon deeks covered with our lasses old black tights and my hide. Bright sun for most of the morning with a gusting wind made for difficult conditions but I ended the session about 11ish with 19 mixed Corvids and a flyby woody. Now comes the frustrating bit...I bought a Mossberg 500 pump action a little while ago from a dear friend, this gun was gifted to him by an old pal years ago and as such he wanted me to continue using it as he's pretty much given up on shotguns preferring rifles. I'm not a great shot but I'm steady away with my normal O/U however with the pump I'd of had more success throwing carts at crows than by shooting at them!! I couldnt blow my Primos for swearing. I learnt a lesson last Sunday and I'm going to pattern the pump and double check the chokes. Does anyone find a big difference between the way a pump patterns compared to an O/U? I know my Hushpower patterns quite low?? Anyhow it was good to be out all the same! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
