When you see what old Bazzer went through injury wise during his career you'd be hard pushed to find a reason to call him soft. One of the great characters of the sport IMVHO.

During his final days as he was losing his fight with the big C he was asked by a nurse "are you allergic to anything" to which he replied "no, only this ***** cancer" A witty geezer to the end!.

You wouldn't see any of those prima donna footballer player getting up and running for the ball if they experienced some of the offs that bike racers take in their stride, off the bike and first thing they want to do is get back on again to finish the race. ;):)

Are we talking the 600cc Formula 2 or the old 350 two stroke formula 2? My mate used to race a 350 formula 2 outfit in the mid 80's at Mallory, Darley, Cadwell etc.

We ran the 350's, packed it in when the rules were all getting changed to allow the 600's into the same class as it would have meant a serious amount of wedge to buy a new outfit and I didn't fancy building another from scratch. They were pretty quick things and used to surprise some of the guys on bigger outfits on the tighter circuits, they could get away on the straights but the F2's could do them on the brakes and round the corners. IOM lap speeds of over 100mph were made on them so that gives an idea of what they could achieve.

Saw Sheene win his last race on the Manx Norton at Donington, after the moto gp races , I think he knew then it would be his last time on a bike , he looked like he was near to tears as he did his victory lap.

I know he spoke out against the road circuits , but he absolutely loved racing at Olivers Mount ,which always baffled me, that is one short circuit where you really don't want to be coming off , especially amongst the trees near Jefferies leap.
