  1. If you're planning to keep the bike, do yourself a favour and fit a Mikuni carb on it. I've got a Bultaco and a Husqvarna that both had Bing carbs on them, they now have Mikuni carbs fitted and are better for it. They usually start second or third kick even after standing for a few weeks. Dave Renham is your man for any Bulty parts https://www.inmotiontrials.com/product/mikuni-pursang-motocross-carb-complete/
  2. I'll swap ya for a black Alpinestar in large
  3. I remember my father trying to fit a centrifugal clutch off a lawnmower to my kart many years ago, the first time I tried it , the kart crept forward a foot or so and then the clutch burnt out . He never could get it to work right so it went back to direct drive . We might of been unlucky, and the clutch may have been pretty much goosed before it was fitted He also didn't have the luxury of the internet 40 years ago to try and find a solution , fingers crossed for you that somebody can help you sort it .
  4. Check that there is no dirt in the main jet in your carb , it will run on the pilot jet at low revs and then goes onto the main at higher revs .

    Doombar

Had a pint of the Betty Stogs in a pub in Kent a few weeks ago and it wasn't good at all . In it's defence the pub was pretty quiet, so I can only assume that the beer had been stood in the pump for some time. I'm going down to Bude in August , so I will give it another try when I'm down there.
  6. Think you might be right . it was a brave call from MD to walk away from the Milwaukee team , but that new R1 seems to have a serious problem with both the Milwaukee and Martrain bikes filling the airboxes with oil , there's no way I would want to race round the island on a bike that could be on the verge of imploding
  7. Here's a scarier video showing Hutchy passing Mickey Dunlop the other night . A bit gutted I'm not going over this year , and to rub salt in the wounds I'm just about to take my son and his mates to the airport , so they can go over for a few days

    moto gp

He was running quite low down the order, around 20th I think , then he crashed on the last lap . Hopefully he will get to grips with the bike fairly quickly ,unless he has moved up to the big bikes too soon ? He was always good to watch on the Moto 3 bike .

I wonder how long it will be before Crutchlow is moaning about the Honda ? I used to really enjoy watching him when he was in WSB , but not so keen on him since he's been in Moto GP , always seems to blame the bike, especially when his team mate is beating him
  10. Very sound advice there. I've got a 350 Bultaco sherpa that I bought from a mate in tatty condition . I have rebuilt it over the years, to a reasonable standard , not concourse , as I intend to use it so I didn't want to be fretting if I scratched it I dread to think how much it has cost me in parts and time , but I intend to keep it for a good few years, so that is irrelevant. If you just want the bike , to do up and turn it around for a tidy profit , then I think you will really struggle. There just isn't the demand and interest for 70's trials bikes ......... yet.

What model , and how old is it ? Cheers
  12. 1st one at 24 , youngest one at 38 . Knowing then what I know now, I think I would have had them all by the time I was 20
  13. Don't you mean 'fortunately ' ? I have the misfortune of travelling that section most weeks , it never ceases to amaze me how many bad drivers that road attracts
  14. I've noticed that there are a couple of gantries around the Clacket lane services on the M25, that have extra speed cameras mounted on them near to the hard shoulder . I have seen these go off a few times , even though the variable speed limits were turned off. Can only assume that they are set at national speed limit + a percentage

    TT 2014

Can't see Mcguinness doing it this year , he seems to be struggling with the wrist injury he got a couple of months back and the island ain't the place to be racing hard if you are not 100%. If Mickey D can get the Beemer dialled in I can see it being his year again.

    North West 200

That's terrible news ! I was hoping he would pull through. He had some horrendous accidents over the years , was hoping after the Le Mans crash last year that he had used up all his bad luck. R.I.P Simon , a real nice guy taken far too early .

Not been for a few years now , marshalled a couple of times at Juniper hill but kicked it in to touch, as I got fed up of getting abuse from clowns who had drunk too much, and thought it was ok to climb over the fence and walk along the pavement while the races were running Hope the weather holds out this year ,as I can't see it surviving many more years if it keeps getting washed out .

If you have a car paint supplier nearby , ask them if they sell Starchem paint stripper. Think you can only get it in a 4 litre bottle , but that does the job .
  19. Quarnford shooting ground in Buxton had been running for 40 years , a couple moved into a farmhouse next to the ground and managed to get it closed for clay shooting . A shame really because it was a good shoot , and only ran once a month on a sunday from 10 - 13.00, so it was hardly a commercial enterprise running everyday :(
  20. From what he tells me , the jets don't go up before 8am , so it's not too early .
  21. A workmate of mine moved into a house right next to RAF Coningsby about 2 years ago . He was telling me last year, that a bloke from down the road knocked on his door and asked if he would sign a petition to stop the jets flying early in the morning and in the evening . Been a straight talking geordie , my mate told him where he could put his petition and asked him why the hell did he buy a house near to an airbase I wonder if the bloke would have complained about the noise, when the planes were flying out in the 1940's
  22. That looks nice ! Is that 1.1% on a lease deal or purchase ? The van I have now has been on contract hire through VW , but the boss wants to purchase our next vans so trying to find the best finance package as well.
  23. Thanks for the replies ! Think I will give the transit a swerve Might have a look at the VW Amarok instead .
  24. The more info the better , cheers ! I've not driven a Ford for years , as I always found them a bit heavy on fuel , but this new Transit caught my eye with the styling and alleged fuel economy , your experiences are putting me off though . Like I say , you can't beat hearing from people who use them everyday, be it good , bad or indifferent . Thanks for the feedback so far
