mudpatten
I`m thinking of using this stuff to dye some walking sticks. Anyone used it or got any tips? If it`s any good, where is the best place to buy it from? Thanks in advance.
rtaylor
I use it to dye gun stocks after stripping the varnish off. I bought a 500g of axminster and still have loads left 3 years later. I'd buy the smallest bag they do and then do some test. The crystals go pretty far when mixed with water. Start with a small amount of crystals and add more until you get the right darkness. I mixed it up in a jam jar, and it keeps in there.

mudpatten
Bought some and gave it a try. Very impressed with the depth of colour and the quality of the overall finish. Should have listened to rtaylor`s advice about quantity. Thought I`d get clever and bought a kilo of the stuff. On the strength of the amount that I `ve used so far, that kilo will last me for about 150 years worth of stick dyeing.

I think I've just used the first teaspoons worth up after 3 years. Although I've never needed to by doing test pieces. I haven't found a way to remove this stuff. Does anyone know of a way to remove water based dye? Edited June 8, 2013 by rtaylor
