  1. As soon as England "took the knee" I lost interest in whether they won or lost.
  2. I`m sure that Biden is getting exited and is looking for any reason to nuke his hated enemy. Great Britain.
  3. The Conservative Government have never intended that the barge actually be used for accomodation.
  4. Very nice indeed. I`m curious, any reason why you`ve painted it up as a non shootable species in the UK?
  5. Absolutely, about 5 decades out of date! I mention it only to reinforce the point that I have actually used a smock. Unfortunately, the basic principles of clothing breathability have only progressed so far. Unless, as has been suggested, you opt for a Ventile type material which works on a different principle to membrane type liners or linings, you WILL overwhelm the membranes ability to vent water vapour once heavy exertion begins. Thats a matter of basic physics allowing for a smocks restricted ability to dump sweat in quantity. Overheating would have taken about 5 minutes with a waxed Barbour but will still only take about 15 minutes in any modern material. Allowing a few minutes either way, according to external temperatue and atmospheric moisture content. Some random observatiions on smocks, the over- the- head type and not the military jacket of the same name which is a conventionally opening jacket by any other name. The "smock" part being that it is a loose fitting coverall garment. The manufacturers like them because they can charge proportionately more for a smock that involves much less machine work and components, zips, buttons, studs etc than a conventional jacket and represents a bigger profit.Given that an over the head smock is cheaper to make you have to ask why the military don`t use them to any great extent. Regrettably, my original comment about getting a muddy mohican when taking it off still holds true. I can`t get on with smocks, but if you can, then they`re still good value for money and currently very fashionable. If you don`t need to work up a sweat whilst wearing it, a smock is a great idea.
  6. Interestingly, your F/arms or SG certificate, which contains a photo and is issued by the police after much scrutiny, is not on the list of photo ID acceptable to local authority polling staff. A "bus pass" is acceptable. A document produced by civilians with a minimum of checking. As is a passport. Thousands of passports are forged every year. No one has ever been prosecuted for forging a FA licence.
  7. As long as it`s not your main source of employment and the earnings are more to cover your costs, check out the BASC insurance small print with David Ilsley at BASC HQ. I was surprised to find that my BASC insurance provided 3rd party cover for paid pest control.
  8. Any recommendations? Yes, dont! As many a wildfowler will tell you, you get very hot and sweaty since its impossible to vent the heat and condensation. If you happen to sit down in the mud you`ll get it smeared up the back of your neck and the top of your head when you remove it. I mention this from personal experience of shooting an entire season in the early `70`s in a Barbour Solway smock. Hateful things!
  9. Depending what you want to use it for, the shot material will have some relevence to the load data. What material will you be using? The original Eley was, of course, lead only and is, as I`m sure you know, no longer useable on fowl.
  10. Are you looking to crimp an FAC magazine?
  11. Keep up the good work Connor. Earlier in this thread, someone mentioned malevolent trolls. Nothing to do with this thread, where incedentally BASC have patently won the argument and the moral high ground on a number of issues, but I recently had cause to contact BASC over a matter of some concern. I recieved a response from the Chief Executive himself within 24 hrs, and a phone call from a department head within 48. You really can`t complain about service like that!
  12. By the perverse legal logic that allows me to hop from being one sex to another, that same logic MUST also apply to age. Therefore I have pressed the Great Reset button and I`m now 19 once again! You really should try it!
  13. I too have used neatsfoot oil on leather for many years and have not seen any sign of it oxidising, or causing leather to crack and deteriorate. What it will do is to significantly darken pale coloured leather. With regard to the original posters question, I`d use a suitable cloured boot polish applied with a rag and brushed and polished like a pair of shoes.
  14. Hi Ho silver lining. Sadly comes to us all.
  15. Good luck with your search. When you finally aquire the little brown bear cub it will be the beginning of an interesting journey.
  16. I pointed out your observations to Ian, the guns owner, who does not use Pigeon Watch. He asks me to tell you that he was well aware of the provenence of the barrelled action, but his understanding of the complex interaction between Birmingham and London meant that he had no qualms about the quality of the workmanship of the overall finished gun and was happy to pay for it.
  17. Try contacting this lady. She consistently produces some of the best Chesapeakes either side of the Atlantic. http://arnacchesapeakes.com/
  18. I covet this! I know I`m not supposed to covet, but I do!
  19. I have a Hawke monocular. Half the price of binoculars but good quality.Depending what you need them for, consider the monocular option.
  20. Try the UK Chesapeake Bay Retriever Club through Google or look at some of the UK Facebook breed pages. Most Chessie litters would be arranged through the breed club. They are keen to help place pups into suitable owners hands.
  21. Harkom, its worth mentioning that BASC is singing from a song sheet agreed with all the other bodies involved in the "hard weather" process. It`s not a case of "Stop shooting until we (BASC)say". Because the nationally distributed notices are agreed by the govt. et al, the newspapers, tv etc. run them as they are written. Any attempt by BASC to go outside the agreed script parameters would meet with immediate resistance from the other bodies, newspapaers, tv etc. The main stream media simply refuses to print good news stories originating from the shooting community. I agree with kicking BASC when they deserve it. Not sure that they do on this occassion, their hands are tied.
  22. Wednesday 14/12/22 is day 7 of the continuous cold weather. Depenedent upon the temperature stats from around the country, the government will be calling for restraint from shooting interests. A ban could come in 7 days after that depending on a number of attending circumstances, not least the actuality or likelihood of a thaw. Interestingly, the government call for restraint is intended for ALL users of the countryside, not just shooters. I shall be watching with interest how my local naturalists trust handles the pedestrian traffic on its reserves. As we know, birdwatching, walking, dog walking etc. are significant causes of disturbance to birds. Proveably more so than fowling.I would expect the large "conservation" bodies to be closing or at least restricting access to their reserves. Lets see exactly what happens.
  23. Apparently,by the definition of some, I`m an extreme right winger! The term is bandied about freely but seldom defined. The failed German coup is probably the first of many, precipitated by the self inflicted disintigration of their country on the greens funeral pyre of the west. Some Germans still remember the deprivation of the war and post war years, many more experienced it by proxy through their parents. Who could blame modern Germans from not wanting to experience the coming starvation, loss of freedom and economic collapse being visited upon them by their own government, goaded onwards to ever more extremes by the EU.
  24. I wonder, does the left wing and the media use a different yardstick for defining the term?
